Wedding Brawl: Man Bites Cop Trying To Break Up Fight At Saint James Venue, Police Say

Suffolk County Police were called at around 7:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, for a fight in Saint James, at the Flowerfield Celebrations venue on Mills Pond Road.

Officers arrived to find several skirmishes that had broken out among the over 100 wedding guests.

The brawl prompted several agencies to respond, including the Second, Fifth, and Sixth Precincts, as well as Smithtown Park Rangers and Head of the Harbor Police.

As officers were trying to break up the fight, Justice Murphy, of Mastic Beach, bit one officer on the arm and shoved another, police said.

Murphy was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

A second man, Qeywon Wilson, was arrested after allegedly blocking an officer who was attempting to break up the fighting.

He is charged with obstructing governmental administration.

Police did not speculate on what led up to the fight.
