Presently trending online is the news of Lizzo being sued by three of her former backup dancers who accused the singer of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. The accusers have been identified as Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez.
Williams and Davis both made an appearance on Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, a recent Amazon Prime reality series about the singer’s search for backup dancers. The dancers said the pop artist, whose actual name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, made comments about their weight and pressured one of them to touch a nude performer in a strip club.
The lawsuit claims that in an Amsterdam strip club, the famous singer was accused of “inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers.” She allegedly promoted eating bananas that protruded from performers’ v*** and collecting d*** that were launched from their genitalia.
The 35-year-old singer of “About Damn Time” is renowned for her outgoing body positivity, but the lawsuit casts her in a very different light. “The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly,” the women’s attorney Ron Zambrano said in the lawsuit, which was first reported by NBC News.
‘While privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing.’
Lizzo is not the only named defendant in the case, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday.
Shirlene Quigley, her dance captain, is also the target of numerous claims. According to the lawsuit, Quigley addressed one of the plaintiffs’ virginity in public while criticizing individuals who had engaged in pre-marital sex and communicated “lewd sexual fantasies.”
Hostile work environments, sexual harassment, religious harassment, racial harassment, handicap discrimination, and failure to prevent or address the harassment are among the claims for all damages.
Lizzo is accused explicitly of failing to stop sexual harassment, producing a hostile work environment, and discriminating against people with disabilities. Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., her tour firm, is also included as a defendant.
As explained earlier, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez previously worked with Lizzo as her backup dancers but fell out and now they are ready to take her down.
One of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit brought against Lizzo is Arianna Davis. In one incident mentioned in the lawsuit, Davis soiled her pants in the middle of a demanding practice out of sheer panic that she would lose her job. The complaint claimed that she was subsequently given a transparent costume with no underwear in order to complete the act.
One of the individuals who filed the complaint against Lizzo is Crystal Williams. Williams allegedly defended herself against Lizzo’s claims that the dancers were intoxicated prior to performances in the lawsuit. A few days later, she was dismissed.
One of the plaintiffs who filed the complaint against Lizzo is Noelle Rodriguez. According to the lawsuit, Lizzo gave Rodriguez two middle fingers and uttered a slur as she resigned.
