Ariana Grande Will Headline Coachella After Kanye West Dropped Out

According to new reports, Tame Impala, Childish Gambino, and Ariana Grande will headline this year’s Coachella Festival after it was revealed that Kanye and festival organizers couldn’t come to an agreement, leading Kanye to bail at the last minute. Sources who spoke with TMZ said that the 41-year-old rapper refused to perform on their “Shakespeare”-like stages.

Sources close to the rapper told Just Jared that Kanye allegedly referred to the traditional 60-40 stages as “artistically limiting.” West is known for being an innovator in many different ways, including for his performances.

For instance, when Kanye toured for Saint Pablo, his stage moved over the audience and even Taylor Swift mentioned it in her track, “Look What You Made Me Do,” off her latest record, Reptutation.

Reportedly, Goldenvoice, the company responsible for dealing and accommodating the talent, refused to give Kanye a special stage. Kanye didn’t want to compromise either.

Supposedly, Grande taking West’s spot wasn’t merely a substitute, but instead, a message of ” female empowerment.” According to Just Jared, Bjork, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga, also started before her as headliners in the past.

This all comes after Kanye West replaced Ariana Grande on Saturday Night Live this past year after she said she had to take time off to deal with “personal issues.”

Following the death of her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, Ariana has reportedly struggled with mental health issues, as has her ex-fiancé, Pete Davidson, star of Saturday Night Live, who was forced to delete his Instagram more than once this past year due to online trolls.

Moreover, the situation between Kanye West and Ariana Grande became somewhat personal when she made fun of his beef with Toronto rapper, Drake, on Twitter.

Putting that all aside, Grande has managed to stay on top with the release of her record-breaking video, “Thank U, Next,” in which she parodied some of her favorite films, including Mean Girls, 13 Going on 30, and Legally Blonde. Jennifer Garner, the star of 13 Going on 30, said Ariana’s video made her so happy.
